We could not let the year end without hosting one of our favourite annual event! We held our Virtual Annual Sports Day and Felicitation Ceremony on Sunday 24th Jan 2021. The children were given an opportunity to take on the innovative physical activity challenges.

Say No To Plastic

Community service gives students an opportunity to explore academic interests through a real world lens. If a child is intrigued when he or she learns about recycling in school, for example, they can pick up recyclables from local businesses and take them to a local recycling centre to see the impact firsthand. We've found that when students connect what they're learning in school to issues that actually matters in real life, they throw themselves into learning. “Plastic pollution-free world is not a choice but a commitment to life - a commitment to the next generation.” Our students have taken first baby step towards say NO to plastic. This community project lead by our Science teacher, Monika Butole is initiated to encourage and spread awareness to people about how plastic is harmful to not only the environment but mainly for our lives.

Feeding Animals

Community service can have a lot of positive effects on students, such as helping them to develop skills, making contacts, and allowing them to improve the quality of life of others.
As a community project we took up the Welfare of street animals and have started working towards it. Our guest speaker Tina Gholap works for the welfare of street dogs. She feeds around 200 street dogs in Kharadi and cares for them. She has spent time twice with the students of Grades 4-8 and it is apparent that the students are enjoying bonding with her. They discuss about what can be done for them and how they can take responsibility, they decided on "Each one feed one', calling it the 'Roti project' where in each child feeds one animal in their neighbourhood. It could be a bird, a cat, a dog, a cow or any other. She explained to the students how to identify dogs who are vaccinated; their ears are clipped or they wear a municipal collar and she asked the children to send her pictures of dogs they see in their locality who have not been vaccinated and that she would ensure sending volunteers for the same.
In the next session she spoke about the ill effect of crackers for the animals. She explained to them about the sharp hearing sense of dogs and the problems noise causes. This time she asked the children to do 'The Water Bowl Project' where she asked them to decorate a cement bowl and keep it in the corner of the street out of their societies clearly mentioning 'Water for animals" and fill fresh water in that every day.
